Firstly, let me give you a little detail about how I got into this whole kpop of a thing. There was this day when I was bored in school and I asked a friend's roommate to give me a movie to watch. I was so desperate for entertainment that I told her anything goes. She was nice enough to offer me this Korean series "Boys Over Flowers" and that was when my journey begun.
You don't understand the relationship between drama and music? Okay, let me break it down to you. I never really used to pay attention to soundtracks of movies except music is the highlight of the movie; you know, like "Let It Shine", "High School Musical" blah blah blah. Well, it's a different case with Korean dramas though. When you hear "Almost Paradise" so many times that your ears almost bleed, you'll definitely take notice of the OSTs (Original Soundtracks).
Moving on, there were a couple of songs that stood out to me like "Stand By Me", "One More Time" and so on. They sounded nice and soothing to my ears even though I couldn't make any sense of what was being said. It was surprising to see myself singing along to ".....together make it love.....". These songs impressed me but they weren't the ones that drew me in.
Guess what drew me into kpop.....................my hilariously crazy crush on KIM HYUN JOONG.
The long and short of the story is that I searched him out on Google and found out he was the leader of the boyband SS501. I was skeptical about getting involved because I thought it would be one of those boring old school indie bands (I'm sorry Busker Busker fans). Well, with a little faith, I searched out SS501 and got sucked in immediately. It was so crazy because it wasn't what I was expecting to see. It was much more better than I bargained for. I was impressed but also scared. I'm a student you know and I don't wanna fail. I knew if I got too involved, I'll be putting myself into trouble.
Luckily & unluckily for me, it was around this time that my dearest lecturers decided to go on strike (Note: they are still on strike as at the time of this post), FREE TIME!!! Could life get any better? Moving on. I started searching SS501 out more and almost in every article, SHINee popped up. Trust me, it was really annoying as at then. They just had to come up every given time that the name stuck in my head unknowingly. It clicked to me one day that they sang one of my favourite OSTs in BOF "Stand By Me" and I decided to give them the benefit of a doubt. I watched one of their most recent music videos as at then, "Dream Girl" and wasn't impressed (trust me, that song has grown on me now).
Well, luckily for SHINee and me, I also watched "City Hunter" and loved the OST "So Goodbye" by Jonghyun. His voice was daebak! (Korean word, means "awesome" in this context) Immediately I found out he was a SHINee member, I ran back to SHINee.
You might not understand the meaning of all these, But it's just to let you know that SS501 might have brought me into kpop, but SHINee sealed my stay in kpop. This is the reason why I find it difficult to stan a single band, I'm not too loyal.
So to my SS501 boys; Kim Hyun Joong (leader), Heo Young Saeng (who is in the army), Kim Kyu Jong (who is also in the army), Park Jung Min & Kim Hyung Jun (maknae), thank you for getting me into kpop. I know you are no longer together but are individual solo artists now, I'll still keep hoping as a fangirl that you get to release an album together in the nearest future.
And to SHINee, my ultimate Kpop boyband, thanks for making me fall in love with kpop and giving me something to while away my time during this awful period. Lee Jinki (Onew/leader), Kim Jonghyun (best vocals ever), Kim Kibum (Key), Choi Minho and Lee Taemin (maknae), you all are the best.

Choi Seung Hyun (T.O.P.), Dong Yong Bae (Taeyang), Kwon Ji Yung (G Dragon/leader), Kang Daesung and Choi Seung Hyun (Seungri/maknae), you all are unique and have individual styles and colours, and that's why I love you all. Oh, before I forget, did anyone recognise T.O.P. from "Iris"?? That is Vic. From what I've heard, he's also a close friend of Kim Hyun Joong...........so much eye-candy.
I can't complete this thread without solely giving respect to the King of weirdness himself, the leader of Korea's no.1 boyband (Big Bang), one of Korea's leading producers, KWON JI YUNG-------> G DRAGON!! Note: I'm hailing him as a soloist. He's my best solo act. So you won't get confused, let me explain. Boybands lead the Korean entertainment industry, so once in a while, band members promote individually which is an added advantage. But trust me, no one beats G Dragon in this area because he's the leading man!
Anyway, before you label me as a delusional fangirl, I'm not all for boys. I love girl groups too. But unfortunately kpop girl groups fail to impress me except of course the baddest females 2NE1!!

f(x)'s Amber is a close second though. I know I'm weird. I like flower boys and tom boys..........the irony.
Well, that is that about my kpop favourites. Wow! blogging is really tiring. I don't think I'm gonna vent any time soon so be rest assured. I'll keep blogging regularly but more about current news. Thanks for visiting my blog and being patient with me. Have a nice day/night!
Note: maknae means "the youngest" in Korean
