I'm just gonna leave these pictures of Kim Soo Hyun and Jun Ji Hyun here.........................
Someone called me a lazy blogger recently, I guess I am. I've had uninterrupted internet connection for the past two weeks thanks to the free unlimited connection my school has made available to only lecturers (I wonder what happened to the students?); notwithstanding, I've been too reluctant to even visit this blog talk-less of writing a post. Guess what I've been doing? I've been catching up on all those Korean dramas currently airing such as 'Bride of the Century', '3days', 'God's Gift - 14 days', 'Wonderful Days' and so on. I bet you are wondering why all have 'days' in them. Believe me when I say you are not alone. I guess time constraint is the new trend in Korean dramas. They are not the only currently airing dramas though, there are others like 'Sly and Single Again', 'Emergency Couple', 'Empress Ki', 'Age of Feeling/Inspiring Generation' and so on but they are not my cup of tea. So I'll just stick to reading their recaps on Dramabeans.
'Age of Feeling' in particular is just a disappointment despite the fact that it stars one of my favourite Korean Stars "Kim Hyun Joong" (Jihoo sunbae from 'Boys Over Flowers') as lead. Believe me when I say I tried, in fact, I watched part of episode 1 on GoodDrama but just couldn't get into it. I was excited about it initially because this is the third drama HyunJoong will be starring in after 'Boys Over Flowers' and 'Playful Kiss', but if I couldn't get into it in the good ol' days of its first few episodes, just imagine how totally incomprehensible it is now. The drama has just too many problems from writer change to the withdrawal of a main character to budget crises. I gave up on the drama a long time ago but for KHJ I will read the recaps until the end. He is always so unlucky with drama choices. Remember how 'City Conquest' was cancelled last year? The only good thing about this drama is that he is being praised for his improved acting skills and then the ratings. Yeah, the ratings. I know right? It can't be that bad if the ratings are high right? Luckily for Kim Hyun Joong, he has been able to maintain steady ratings despite the tough competition in the same time slot from 'You From Another Star' at the start of the series and currently 'Three Days' which followed YFAS. Television network SBS is so mean to KHJ by not just putting him up against his label mate Kim Soo Hyun in YFAS but subsequently pitching him against one of his best celebrity friends Park Yoochun in 3days there after. Aish......so frustrating!
Oh! Least I forget, one of my favourite Korean dramas ever 'You From Another Star' finally ended early February I think, and do I miss it? Yeah, I do. *sniff*. Both leads are the best. I heard they have been together in a movie 'The Theieves" before (note: not drama series). So I checked it out last week with another popular drama of Kim Soo Hyun "Secretly, Grandly" aka "Secretly & Greatly". The later was one of the top grossing movies of last year in South Korea. I personally prefer 'The Thieves' because if I hadn't known beforehand and just randomly saw the movie somewhere, I never would have guessed that it was a Korean Drama. I would have probably called it a Chinese or Japanese movie. Kim Soo Hyun sealed his place has my favourite Korean actor after watching 'The Thieves' and so did Jun Ji Hyun, his leading lady in YFAS.
Speaking of favourite Korean Dramas, I marathon-ed 'Reply 1997/ Answer Me 1997' and finally finished watching the 16-episode long drama today. The series has also found its way to being one of my favourite Korean dramas ever. Apink's Jung Eunji and Seo In Guk nailed their characters. I found myself being able to differentiate between when someone speaks in 'Seoul Accent' and when someone speaks in 'Busan Accent'. Trust me, I don't understand "Hangul' on a normal day. I can only pick out few words like 'hello', 'thank you', 'honey' and so on when someone is speaking. I had previously read the recap on Dramabeans a while ago and I liked it so I decided to check it out now that I have access to free internet connection. I found myself unable stop eventhough I knew where the story was going. That says a lot about the series so you should totally check it out.
I also tried to watch 'My Girlfriend is a Gumiho/My Girlfriend is a Nine-Tailed Fox' but I just wasn't feeling it so I stopped halfway through episode 1. Even my love for Lee Seungi couldn't pull me in. I wonder why he loves picking roles related to Gumihos. You remember he was half-human half-gumiho in last year's 'Gu Family Book'? I guess I'm just going to check out his other drama 'King 2 Hearts'. I've never really sat through any of his dramas though I read their recaps. I prefer seeing Seungi on Variety Shows.
You know I'm suffering from serious nostalgia when I have to check out the latest episode of 'Kpop Star 3' due to boredom. Aww.....I miss Reply 1997. Anyway, my internet connection was already messing up at the time so I only caught glimpses of the contestants and of course the judges. Out of the three judges, I'm only familiar with two who are the CEOs/founders of two out of the three top entertainment agencies in South Korea, JYP and YG Entertainment. You know JYP aka Park Jin Young as that weird teacher in 'Dream High'. Surprised? Yeah, that dude is swimming in cash. He was a mentor to Korean Star "Rain" from 'Ninja Assassin' and houses top Korean acts like Wonder Girls (they once toured with Jonas Brothers), 2AM, 2PM, Miss A and more. I hear he's a good guy but I have some issues with him, like how he disposed of former 2PM leader, Jay Park. I'm happy Jay is totally making it on his own with him recently making Simon D a co-CEO in his company. And yeah, Simon D is totally cool, well, except his affiliation with the wierdos club called 'chocoballs' is ridiculous. Chocoballs was formed by no other person than Super Junior's Kim Heechul of course. Other prominent members that you might be familiar with are Jang Geun Seok and FT Island's Lee Hong Ki. Both starred in 'You Are Beautiful' as Taekyung and Jeremy respectively. Oh....and did I tell you I'm watching 'Bride of the Century' for Lee Hong Ki?
I know I've totally strayed from the topic of discussion so back to Kpop Star 3 judge YG aka Yang Hyun Suk. You might not be familiar with this name or with YG as a person but just know that his company houses world sensation PSY of 'Gagnam Style' and other prominent acts such as Big Bang, 2NE1 and more recently WINNER etc. Honestly, I don't like that dude for whatever reason. Well this is what I've been up to lately. You can see what a boring life I lead.
See why I'm always lazy to write posts? It took me about 3 hours to write just this. I know I'm a slow writer *sigh* Anyway, see y'all next time. Bye.
